Dr. Zubair Khalid is an Associate Professor at LUMS and Director of CITY, where he advances AI-driven, data- and policy-informed solutions for digital transformation, climate resilience, and urban systems. His broader research spans artificial intelligence, machine learning, systems engineering, computer vision, signal processing, and optimization.

He completed his PhD in Engineering at the Australian National University, Canberra, in 2013, and held positions as Professor at KAUST and AI Resident at Maincode. At LUMS, he teaches courses in the MS Artificial Intelligence program, including the Machine Learning courses (AI501/EE 514/CS 535), which cover the theoretical foundations and practical applications of supervised and unsupervised learning.

His work has been recognized with the ACM Gordon Bell Prize (2024), and he is noted for contributions to AI for Industry R&D.

Summaiya Zaidi received a PhD in legal history in 2023 from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University, and an LL.M. from SOAS in 2012. She currently teaches law at her alma mater LUMS in Lahore where she acquired her BA/LL.B. degree in 2009. She studies law from a multidisciplinary perspective looking at the historical and sociological context that creates, defines, and shapes it.

With experience in research and litigation, Summaiya channels her interests through her teaching: university students explore different social issues through field research, legal clinics etc. and are encouraged to not only recognize the inequalities and injustices that plague Pakistanis, but also to change disbalances in society. She also incorporates Artificial Intelligence Tools to facilitate learning in the classroom, with a clear recognition that these tools do not replace the human brain but work in tandem with it.

Zehra Zaidi teaches law at the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL), LUMS. She holds an LL.B. from the University of London and was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn, UK. She has practised law in both London and Karachi, with professional experience spanning commercial, corporate, maritime, environmental and aviation law.

With over a decade of experience in legal education, she has taught various courses including Contracts, Torts, International Business Transactions, and Legal Research and Writing. She is also actively involved in the professional development and training of legal academics across Pakistan. Her combined experience in legal practice, teaching, and research enables her to bring together practical legal knowledge, academic insight and expertise, alongside an understanding of the evolving demands of the legal profession.

She has particular interest in looking at the growing role of artificial intelligence in legal practice and education, particularly its practical application to legal research, drafting, and analysis. She explores how lawyers can integrate AI tools into their professional workflows, enhancing efficiency and strengthening their legal research while remaining mindful of their professional and ethical responsibilities.

Dr. Salaar Khan specializes in signal processing and artificial intelligence, with research at the intersection of advanced signal processing and AI-driven solutions. He holds a PhD from LUMS and an MS from Auburn University.

As Adjunct Faculty at LUMS, he teaches applied statistics, machine learning, data science, and Python, covering supervised and unsupervised learning, model evaluation, and hands-on training with popular ML libraries. In addition to his academic teaching, he co-delivers executive AI sessions that bridge technical implementation with leadership-level decision-making, and leads Learning and Development at CITY.
