Urban Development & Growth

Urban development focuses on addressing the challenges of poorly planned and unrestricted urban growth in major cities of Pakistan. With rapid urbanization, urban sprawl results in the increase in geographical distances between homes, businesses, and services, raising living costs which leads to socio-economic inequalities. In the Pakistani context, urban sprawl has resulted in disproportionate rural migration to informal settlements, in and around cities, which represents a physical and spatial demonstration of inter and intra-city inequality and unprecedented urban poverty.
